About the Company
  
My client is a consumer products design and manufacturing company, passionate about their brands and delighting their customers with innovative and high-quality products. Their focus is on becoming a mainstream, recognised brand, online and retail.

The Role
The role will form part of the global top management team, reporting to the CEO. Travel around China and SE Asia to manufacturing partners will be required. This role will focus on ensuring they deliver products and services that delight customers. This will involve a deep understanding of consumer insights, active involvement in the product development process and oversight of their complex, sub-contracted manufacturing operations.

Technical experience – you will be a seasoned, experienced and highly qualified quality professional in consumer product quality control, development and manufacture. This must include heated and motorized consumer products such as power tools, vacuum cleaners, cooking products, etc.

Manufacturing experience – You will be familiar with all commonly used mass manufacturing processes and their applications and limitations; including injection moulding, metal stamping, surface treatments/coatings and finished goods assembly.

Leadership – The quality teams are involved from product conception to end-of-life, so they touch every part of the organisation. Geographically the teams are located across China. Structuring and leading this widespread team will require clear vision, direction and strong organizational skills.

Data driven – You will use quality tools to compile, analyse and communicate quality performance with ease. You will use data to prioritise activities and solve problems.

Resolve – we need a calm, strong, determined leader with the maturity and knowledge to define the best paths forward. The ability to listen carefully, question thoroughly, then understand sometimes complex issues and make key decisions is critical for success in this role.

Communication – you will be a strong and convincing communicator, capable of making presentations and leading meetings as well as individual coaching and encouragement.

• Day-to-day management of large-scale, manufacturing quality control
• Cooperation with the Supply Chain team on vendor selection and improvement
• Partnership with R&D and Engineering teams to deliver world-class new product development
• Defining and developing group Quality systems

Skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
• 15+ years’ experience managing quality for global consumer product companies serving international markets
• Recent experience to include leadership responsibilities for global teams
• Able to demonstrate hands-on experience with world-class, successful product manufacturing
• Significant experience of working in China
• Must be fluent in English – Mandarin skills would be a bonus
• Travel around China and SE Asia to manufacturing partners will be required
